Born into Privilege

In days of old, when the monarchy reigned and one was born into the royal family, this was known as ‘born into privilege’. Being born into privilege entails many aspects of freedom such as special advantages, immunity, rights, benefits and power, enjoyed not by all but by this certain individual, class or caste of people.

However along with privilege come responsibilities. Living in a higher standard, knowing your life is not your own, but to govern over and-or serve the people. It would behoove us, to really research and understand this.

We, who have been “born again” into Christ Jesus have been born into privilege. We have been granted all the privileges and rights of the son of God. We have been made heir and joints heirs with Christ Jesus.

We, you and I are sons and daughters of the Most High God. We are filled with the power and authority, purchased through the blood of Jesus. We are empowered by the Holy Spirit who works in us, the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. Selah

This position of privilege comes with not only great responsibility but with great recompense of reward.

The men and women of yester year were taught from an early age, trained up to know what their life entailed, they learned what was expected and why.

And we being children of the King of kings and Lord of lords must be even more diligent to not only know our rights but the benefits of walking in them.  If not we will live a life of mediocrity at best. Living below the standards God has called us to into a life of squander and failure.

Colossians 3:12-14 tells us to put off the old man and put on the new.  The characteristics of the elect of God, a son-daughter, is “… to put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another , if anyone has complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.”

These characteristics cannot be attained in our own humanly strength.  No, we need the power of the Holy Spirit to work in us. How do we do this? Stay connected with God. Remain in the vine, (read John 15), apart from Him we can do nothing, it is only in Him and through Him we have life.

Today we have the internet, with the amazing discovery of wireless connection. Yet the same powers of wireless connection were around long before mankind discovered them.

We as sons and daughters of God have a greater connection. Unlike the internet, in which we may have interrupted services, due to lack of connectivity. We who are called by God have a direct line to God anytime, anywhere. The Holy Spirit reveals truth, convicts of sin.  He will guide you, direct you, He empowers you to do the will of God. He gives you strength, He comforts you, He shows you those things which belong to you. He is your advocate and it is to your great advantage to hang out with Him. Why wouldn’t you want to spend time with Him? Do spend time with Him, He will teach you and prepare you to truly understand your position as you have been born into privilege.

What is this recompense of reward I spoke of earlier?  In the third chapter of Colossians

  • First he tells us to put off the old man, giving description of what that looks like.
  • Second He tells us what to put on as we just read
  • Third in verses 15-17 is an amazing benefit of reward “and let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body;
  • Fourth “and be thankful.”

The world searches all over for peace, peace in a alcohol, peace in drugs, peace in relationships, peace of mind, world peace, however we see in this world there is no peace. Temporary at best, because when you come off your meds, when struggles arise, your peace escapes once again…

True peace is not bought with money, but comes as a benefit to those of us “born into privilege”. Our Father is the God of Peace, our brother Jesus the Prince of Peace. Know the truth, know your identity and be thankful.

    1. Amen Denise, trying to wrap our minds around the privilege that God has called us to is mind blowing, but worth it. I have learned many lessons the hard way, but His Grace is amazing and He continues to love us and strengthen us to move forward. Why? because He love us and He has a purpose for each and everyone of us. For me I belive He is wanting me to share some of the lessons, those nuggest I have learned while in the trenches. This may encourage some, hopefully detour others from taking a turn before His timing and instill hope to those who are discouraged. Our hope in Him will not fail.Because He cannot fail.. Stay close to Him, my sister, He will guide you and use you to touch many lives for the kingdom of God. God bless you

      1. amen, we are richly blessed, those whom belong to Him. The problem is many don’t have a true understanding of who we are…I use to say I did, but when the pressure was on, for any length of time, I began to cave…Yet God…God has revealed so much to me and it is in the trenches, we really learn those hard lessons. Denise you are greatly loved, beyond our human comprehension, and He has so so much more in store for you, You are just scratching surface. 🙂 1 Corinthians 2:9 “But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man. The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
